How to Save Money with Medical & Dental Clinical Trials
Ok, so I posted my very first daily post yesterday and today we are continuing with “How Tuesday”! I’m complied some information for you on how to save money on medical and dental expenses”. Stay tuned for more how to tips each Tuesday.
NOTE: I have not personally dealt with any of the companies listed below. I’ve pulled information from the internet in an effort to have a starting point for you to find the companies you’d like to work with.
Save on Medical Expenses
Sign-up for Medical Clinical Trials. Clinical trial volunteers are essential to the development of new therapies. Your participation could potentially benefit others by increasing knowledge about a disease and its potential treatments. You may be one of the first patients to experience positive results from a new therapy that may one day relieve or eliminate an illness. In addition, with most companies, you will receive personalized medical treatment, free study medication and laboratory tests. Companies will also reimburse you for your travel expenses. Aside from the few companies I’ve listed below, I would also check with your local medical universities and ask about their upcoming clinical trials. Here’s a few companies to get you started:
- Access Clinical
- Avastra Clinical Trials
- Center Watch
- Children’s National Medical Center
- Clinical Connection
- Clinical Trials
- Meridian Clinical Research
- Novartis Clinical Trials
Donate Blood. Not only does donating blood save lives, there are benefits for you as well. I will research this a little more to see if it’s just my area or for all donations, but when you donate blood you can actually save money on all blood services for you for the next 12 months! Need a blood test for medical reasons and there is a co-pay for your insurance? If you’ve given blood, this co-pay is covered. Currently, only about 3 in 100 Americans donates blood. I have tried several times, but unfortunately every time I go they are not able to because of my small veins. I keep trying hoping that I’ll get to donate. Check http://www.redcrossblood.org/ or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to find a local donation location. You can also check eligibility requirements HERE.
Donate Plasma. Ok, so this one may not save you money, but in some areas it could pay you! I have not looked into how much they pay, but check out the websites below or call your local center to ask about paid plasma donation.
Save on Dental Expenses
Sign-up for Dental Clinical Trials. Just like the medical clinical trials, you can receive some of the same benefits by participating in dental clinical trials. Some of the companies will be the same as above and a few new ones. If your lucky enough to have a dental teaching school near you, check for prices on dental work. You’ll receive great care (as students are working with dentist), help students learn their career, and receive discounted dental work!
